Why should I hire a Newfoundland Web Design company instead of some company from another part of the world?

We get asked that question a lot.

The answer to this question is pretty simple. All things being equal, it makes more sense to hire someone local. It simply makes things easier.

For example:

  • it’s easier to arrange photo shoots and such,
  • it’s easier to transfer hard copies of site content etc.,
  • it’s easier because you share a time zone, so that you are all working at the same time,
  • a local company will understand you better. The cultural feel of a particular province is unique; if your business caters to that special characteristic, your website should reflect that too. If a web design company is local, they’ll shop in the same kinds of stores as you; they’ll understand the customers in your province better because they probably work with many businesses in your area. They’ll have a much better feel for things.

That said, all Newfoundland web design companies are not created equally.

Regardless of the fact that it may be easier to use a local company, the bottom line is that they must be able to handle your current needs – as well as the future needs of your company.

Building the initial Website is the easy part. There are lots of good designers out there that can build you a website. The real issue is, what happens after that?

  • Suppose your site is published, and the phone doesn’t ring? What then?
  • Suppose your freelance designer takes a job with a printing company, and won’t work with you any more (and this happens a lot!). What then?
  • Suppose your design company is only experienced with design work. Who will help market you? I guess you will have to find a “marketing company” to do this. Then you will have to coordinate both of them. Time consuming.

Your time is valuable. It takes time to find a Web design company. Do you really want to be looking for another company a few months after your site is completed? I doubt it.
